“It began in my studio in Isabela. The spotted eagle ray seen while snorkeling, the way the reef looks through the water’s surface, the plants that grow like they own the place—those were the first subjects because they were the first things that stopped me.
The work has always been about bringing that living color into rooms and onto bodies. Murals people walk past every day. Paintings that sit in the kitchen. Swimwear that leaves the wall and moves.
Now the same looking includes the quieter places. The school girl waiting on the bench. The space that is never really empty. The plants and animals are still here. They just have more company.”
